Three-term state Representative Bill
Daughtridge said Friday that he has begun in earnest a bid to become
state treasurer in 2008.
Daughtridge, a Republican, held a campaign kickoff event with
about 150 people Thursday night in Nash County that he said raised
almost 100-thousand dollars.
Daughtridge is the president of a family gas and oil
distribution company in Rocky Mount. He said his career and
education make him qualified to become state treasurer, whose
largest responsibility is overseeing North Carolina's 74 (b)
billion dollars in public pension funds.
Current Treasurer Richard Moore, a Democrat, is expected to run
for governor in 2008.
