Investigation Underway Into Tyrrell County Worker Death
Deputies say the man fell through a hole in the roof, onto a concrete floor below.

OSHA is investigating the death of a worker who fell to his death Thursday.
Tyrrell County deputies say Granville Simmons, Jr., who was also known as J.R., died while working on a roof at Cherry Farms on Highway 94 South in Columbia.
Deputies say the 30-year old from Columbia fell through a hole on the roof onto a concrete floor.
Simmons was taken to Chowan Hospital by Tyrrell EMS where he died from those injuries.

Aunt pam, Unlce Wanye, Kyle, and Nana, I'm so sorry for our family's loss. I'm so sorry I couldn't make the funneral. J.R. was a wonderful person and we know he is in a better place now. I will miss him dearly. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you (and my step mom Teresa) I Love you guys and I'm here for ya'll if you ever need me!!

Doesn't get any easier to bare the pain of losing a Bro. Never did you hear a neg. word about him! We will never forget you. We can only hope that we all learned a little something from him on his short time in this world & I can look forward to seeing you in the next!
