Former Kernersville Fire Captain Convicted Of Soliciting Sex On Web

A former Kernersville Fire Department captain has been convicted of soliciting a teenage girl for sex over the Internet.

Prosecutors say James Edward Wall thought he was chatting online with a 14-year-old girl. But when Wall arranged to meet the girl for sex in August, he found out he'd been chatting for a week with an undercover Guilford County sheriff's deputy.

Wall pleaded not guilty, saying he thought he was role-playing with an older woman.

He was sentenced to five years probation.

Wall will have to register as a sex offender and cannot live in a house with children or a computer with an Internet connection.
