After the church arsons in Greenville last month, area congregations fear it could happen to them. Local church members are now taking a proactive approach to protecting their properties. A Thursday luncheon with local authorities, fire officials and church leaders was held in Greenville. Clement Insurance and Financial companies organized the event. The main purpose was to talk about how to better protect churches. According to fire officials, neither one of the churches that burned had sprinkler systems installed. Also, an insurance adjuster told church parishioners, that type of destruction could cost more than their policies can cover and it's better to have a plan now, than to be sorry later. One of the things those attending learned was to have a fire drill with the members of their church.
