A person familiar with the investigation of former House Speaker Jim Black says Black will enter a plea to at least one state charge today.
The person spoke with The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because court documents haven't been filed yet. The person didn't know the precise criminal charge.
Black pleaded guilty in federal court last week to illegally accepting thousands of dollars from chiropractors.
The person tells The A-P that Black will accept what's called an Alford plea. That allows a defendant to acknowledge that the evidence could result in a conviction but doesn't require them to acknowledge guilt.
