Democrat John Edwards says the the Bush administration should be talking directly with Iran.
Edwards was campaiging in Iowa and says the Bush Administration's failure to directly engage with Iran's government to has resolve problems with the Iraq war and Iran's effort to develop nuclear weapons.
Edwards tells The Associated Press before a campaign event that it was "a huge strategic mistake" to not be dealing directly with Iran. He says the U-S should be much smarter about its relations with the country and says the U-S has the tools to engage Iran.
Edwards was wrapping up a two-day swing through Iowa.
