Officials at Conagra Foods have issued a voluntary recall of two types of peanut butter. The company, along with the Food and Drug Administration, is investigating a possible link between salmonella contamination and peanut butter.
Now they are asking consumers who purchased any variety of Peter Pan peanut butter or Great Value peanut butter to check the lid for product code 2111.
Conagra says none of its testing has indicated the presence of salmonella in those products, but more testing is still ongoing. The company says they are recalling the peanut butter only as a precaution. Officials are advising consumers to discard the product, but save the lid for a full refund. The address for refunds can be found at www.Conagrafoods.com. Consumers with questions can call the 24-hour hotline, 1-866-344-6970.
