On Thursday, a converted home on 208 South Pitt Street in Greenville, caught fire around 8: 45pm. One person was found inside the home and sent to the hospital in Chapel Hill. On Friday, fire officials went to three other blazes, one at Medical Park apartments on Allen road the other in Pitt County at 320 Tarheel Drive.
Of all of the fires, the Reedy Branch Apartment Complex fire at 2208 E. 10th Street, is the one authorities believe is suspicious. Property Manager, Ken Smith tells WITN-7, someone started the fire outside of a vacant apartment and at the front door of the office at 3:41 pm Friday afternoon. Smith says, he believes it was a vendictive former tenant may have set the blaze which cause damage to three apartments.
Other residents like, Holton Thompson, says she can't believe someone would jeopardize the lives of innocent people by setting an apartment on fire. She and her roommate are questioning the safety of their surroundings since this apparent arson.
Ken Smith says there is about 15 to 20 thousand dollars of damage. The investigation continues.
