Pender County health officials say it is not the norovirus that's plaguing South Topsail Elementary over the past two days, but aren't sure what it is. They're still trying to find out what made over 200 students sick Tuesday and another 235 students Thursday. Health officials believe it is some kind of virus but they haven't determined which one. They say it is highly contagious and slowly popping up at nearby Topsail High
and middle schools. Officials questioned every sick student. They've ruled out food poisoning and what's called the cruise ship virus. Right now, all they know is students have flu like symptoms with no official diagnosis.
