Three Arrested In 1997 Murder Of Fort Bragg Soldier

Authorities in Fayetteville have arrested three people they say killed a Fort Bragg soldier nearly ten years ago.

Andre Cornelius Hines was found shot to death in his car in Fayetteville in November 1997.

Authorities in Cumberland County say those arrested are members of the violent gang known as Gangster Disciples.

They include 39-year-old Marcus Rudolph Keys, 29-year-old Robert Charles Haulcy and 33-year-old Mark Anthony Herd. The three were charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities say Keys came to Fayetteville to recruit new gang members, and Hines befriended the group.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Tanna says authorities believe the three killed Hines because they were afraid he would tell police about the gang's activities.

All three of the suspects are in custody.
