OLF Environmental Study Delayed In North Carolina
Navy officials announced today the delay of an environmental impact study over the proposed Outlying Landing Field or OLF.

Navy officials announced today the delay of an environmental impact study over the proposed Outlying Landing Field or OLF.
"The environmental planning, which would lead to a decision to establish an OLF, has been a challenging process," the Navy said in a written statement.
In response Camden County's Manager Randell Woodruff said, "We are hopeful the Navy will use this time to consider alternatives to Camden County, based on the mounting evidence an OLF here would cause severe economic and environmental damage to northeast North Carolina. Congressional, state, county and local officials have made it clear that both the Camden and Gates County sites should not be considered for an OLF. Now is the time to remove these sites from consideration."
The proposed OLF in Camden County would serve the Master Jet Base at Oceana Naval Air Station located approximately 30 miles over the state line in Virginia Beach. As proposed some have said the OLF could condemn thousands of acres and place agricultural restrictions on thousands more, removing the land from the county tax base. In early 2008, the Camden and Currituck county boards publicly announced their opposition to the proposed airfield.

I don't like planes flying over. Sounds like...no one wants to live there with all the noise. No one wants to sell their land and move away to make room for a landing strip. Put it somewhere else.
I like planes flying over, sounds like.......freedom. Folks, WE HEAR THEM ALL THE TIME. Trust me, just look up once and awhile. We have more military bases in NC than any state. OK, you gettin me no OLF guy?
Maybe the fact that all of the birds causing airplane crashes lately caused this. They said before that it wouldn't be a problem, guess they were wrong.
