Easley AppointmentOf Rocky Mount Man Completes NC Ethics Commission

Governor Easley has appointed a restaurant franchiser to the North Carolina State Ethics Commission.

Mayo Boddie of Rocky Mount is chairman of Boddie-Noell Enterprises, which is one of the largest restaurant franchise firms in the country. It operates outlets such as Hardee's, Texas Steakhouse and Saloon and Moe's Southwest Grill.

Boddie is one of Easley's two Republican appointments to the commission, which replaced the old State Board of Ethics. The appointment means all eight spots on the commission are now filled.

Unlike the old board, the commission can investigate all three branches of government but must refer cases to other panels when complaints are made against judges and lawmakers.
