NC National Guard Names New Leader

The North Carolina National Guard has named a new Chief of the Joint Staff.

Colonel Keith Mabry took over the duties on Thursday and will be the senior ranking operations officer responsible for daily operations of the National Guard, which has about 12-thousand soldiers and airmen in North Carolina.

Mabry will rank third in the overall chain of command for the North Carolina National Guard and acts on behalf of the Adjutant General in his absence.

Mabry joined the state's National Guard in 1980.
