A Rocky Mount woman faces charges of child abuse neglect after authorities say she left her two children in her car while she shopped for over an hour.
Officials say it happened Wednesday afternoon at the local Food Lion in the Nash County town of Rocky Mount. Authorities were alerted after witnesses noticed the two children in the back seat of the car without an adult. One of the kids, reportedly, suffered an asthma attack while inside. Police say the attack came on due to Wednesday's freezing temperatures.
The child who suffered the asthma attack was taken to Nash General Hospital and then released. Officials say the mother faces up to four years in prison, if convicted.
