Nationwide, the wait time in ER's is two hours and 45 minutes. North Carolina's is just a few minutes shy of that. At Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, hospital officials tell us a review is underway to determine if the recent death of a patient in the ER is in any way connected to that, or if other factors were at play. Regardless, officials say they're looking at long and short term solutions to cut down on the wait time, which averages around one hour.The wait time refers to the time a patient has been assessed, to when they receive treatment. Hospitals say patients in the most critical condition of course get priority.
