A California-based maker of casual clothing and accessories has opened a distribution center in Lincolnton, about 40 miles northwest of Charlotte.

The company laid off 85 employees as part of the move. About 15
employees were relocated from its complex in Sante Fe Springs,
California, to the new 230-thousand-square-foot Lincolnton
Big Dog also says it's invested more than four million dollars in the technology and equipment at the new facility, including new conveyor belts and automated shipping. The company's shares fell 50 cents to $15-35 today on the Nasdaq.
