There was a winner of the 254 million dollar Powerball prize last night -- but not in North Carolina.
The jackpot had grown to the largest it's been since North Carolina joined the national jackpot game in May. The big prizes had generated a bump in what have been lagging sales for the state's lottery.
The winning ticket was sold in Missouri.
Some North Carolinians won prizes as well, though most everyone
who played lost their money. Tickets are one dollar each.
The winning numbers were 9-19-29-42-53 and a PowerBall of 17.
The biggest North Carolina winner on Wednesday was for
$600,000. That ticket matched all five numbers, but missed the PowerBall, while also paying an extra dollar for a multiplier feature. There's no word on where that ticket was sold. Two other tickets are worth $200,000. Most of the winning tickets -- more than 99 percent --are worth seven dollars or less.
You can watch the Powerball drawings live on WITN-7 every Wednesday and Saturday.
