Havelock officials are trying to access damage from last week's flooding to see if it qualifies for state or federal help.

On Wednesday the Havelock area received more than 10 inches of rain in less than six hours. More rain fell on Thursday and Friday.

If there was enough damage, the city may be eligible for low interest loans or other assistant that may help property owners recoup what wasn't covered by insurance. Insurance deductibles or those without insurance may also be helped.

Havelock is asking it your home or business was damaged to call the city's planning director at 252-444-6433.

You can also e-mail your information to SChase@HavelockNC.US. Please include the name of homeowner or name of business, address, a phone number where we can reach you DURING BUSINESS HOURS, & damage sustained.

If you have photographs or video, please email them to the same address or mail to:

Planning Director Scott Chase
1 Governmental Avenue
Havelock, NC 28532.

The city asks all photographs are in .jpg format and have the address in the name of the photo. If mailing, write the address written on the back of the photo, or packaging of the video.
