The father of a woman who was raped and
strangled nearly five years ago has dropped a lawsuit against the
company that managed her apartment complex.
The sudden change came as the second week of a trial began in
Wake Superior Court. There had already been three days of
Charles Bentley, a lawyer for Terry Bennett of Rocky Mount,
Virginia, said an issue came up in the early days of the case that
resulted in the decision, but he wouldn't specify what the issue
Bennett, the father of slaying victim Stephanie Bennett, may
refile the lawsuit again.
Twenty-three-year-old Stephanie Bennett was found dead in her
apartment in May 2002.
