Police were tipped by a couple in a hot-air balloon about a large number of dogs at a Union County home. The authorities seized 36 pit bulls in one of the county's largest dog-related cases.
The dogs were taken last week at the house in Indian Trail.
County sheriff's Lt. Michelle Starnes says the dogs probably will be euthanized.
The dog owner is 26-year-old Stanley Max Plowman Junior. He says he boards, breeds and sells pit bulls. The case still is being investigated and no charges have been filed.
