Google Is Heading To North Carolina

Google has clicked on our state as the home for its $600 million dollar data center.

The center is planned for the Caldwell County City of Lenoir, which is about 60 miles northwest of Charlotte.

Lenoir has a population of about 60,000.

The Google center will eventually employ about 210 people in a region hit hard by layoffs in the furniture and textile industries.

The average annual salary at the data center is expected to be more than $48,000, about $20,000 more than the average salary in Caldwell County.

North Carolina will give the company almost $5 million dollars as part of a total incentives package that could reach more than $100 million dollars.
