Swedish Furniture Company Coming To North Carolina

Swedish-based home furnishings retailer IKEA is bringing its popular wares to Charlotte. IKEA has 29 stores in the United States, but none in the Carolinas. The closest IKEA stores to Charlotte are in Atlanta and Washington. Pending city approval, construction on the proposed 345,000-square-foot store could begin as early as this fall, with a possible opening in spring 2009. The company says the store will employ about 400 people.
