More than a dozen people have been arrested in a North Carolina prostitution investigation involving use of the Web site Craigslist.
Multiple media outlets reported that most of the arrests occurred last week at motels along the Interstate 77 corridor in Charlotte. Police Capt. Mike Adams said most of the prostitutes were from out of town, but didn't say if customers also were arrested.
Adams says prostitution contributes to other crimes and the investigation is continuing.
The only name released by police was 25-year-old Weylin Rodriguez of Orlando, Fla. He is charged with maintaining a place for prostitution, failing to register as a sex offender and being a habitual felon. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
