Recycling isn't just for newspapers, bottles or cans. Computers, cell phones and stereo components are recyclable, too. Many of the components--plastic covers, copper wires, and motherboards--can be, and should be reclaimed. Pitt County Recycling Coordinator Paula Clark helped host an electronic recycling drive this weekend. Clark says that many people recycle electronics because they want to properly dispose of the toxic metals in the equipment that could otherwise contaminate our groundwater.
And don't worry, the electronics recycling drive is not the only place to drop off unwanted components. The Pitt County transfer station on Allen Road in Greenville accepts the items year round. There are even free, pick up options for area businesses.
