A federal reward of $2500 is being offered for information on who shot and killed a bald eagle in Davidson County.
The national symbol was discovered dead when wildlife officers investigated a report that a hawk had been killed. The eagle was about two years old and weighed six to seven pounds. It had been shot in the head.
Killing a bald eagle is a state and federal crime and carries possible fines and prison time for a conviction.
Officers say they believe the bird was shot December 27 while it was sitting on a power line.
