Police Arrest 14-Year-Old After Shots Fired At School

A 14-year-old boy has been charged with shooting a gun toward a Fayetteville high school and trying to kill three people.

Authorities say the teenager was not a student at Westover High School, where the gunshot hit a vehicle leaving campus on Tuesday.

The three students in the vehicle were not injured.

Investigators were told the shooting may have stemmed from a disturbance, but they don't know if that happened at school or elsewhere.

The teen was taken to the Cumberland County Juvenile Detention Center and is charged with attempted murder, discharging a weapon into an occupied property, possessing a firearm at school and trespassing.
