Duke Invites Two Lacrosse Players Accused Of Assualt Back To School

A defense attorney says Duke University has invited two former lacrosse players accused of sexual assault to return to school as students in good standing.

Collin Finnerty and Reade Seligmann were barred from attending class last semester while their case went through court. Dave Evans, the third player charged in the case, graduated in May, one day before he was charged with raping a woman hired to perform as a stripper at a team party in March.

Rape charges against all three players were dropped last month after the accuser said she could no longer remember some details about the case. The men are still charged with sexual assault and kidnapping.

It's not immediately clear if Seligmann will accept the offer. His attorney says he's considering his options. In a letter to Seligmann, Duke vice president for student affairs Larry Moneta says continuing the administrative leave would do "unwarranted harm to your educational progress."
