One county in the East is talking about raising its sales tax, but only if voters give them go-ahead.

Two Lenoir County Commissioners, Linda Sutton and Reuben Davis, are on the record now as saying they want to put a sales tax increase on the ballot in November. That's according to the Kinston Free Press.

Lenoir County's sales tax is currently on par with most counties, at 6.75%. Some counties, including Pitt and Martin, have a 7% sales tax to help fund education.

The Kinston Free Press reported the additional revenue in Lenoir County could help expand the county jail.

Voters defeated a sales tax increase in Lenoir County in 2007. Voters passed a bond referendum to fund school construction in 2006.

Let's get rid of the IRS and all the prima-donas associated with that outfit. Go to a flat tax, and quit imposing all these other taxes which hurts the middle class. Tell the Federal Government to oust the 32 CZARS, who are not elected and circumvent the legislative branch of government. Clean up the corruption in MEDICARE and MEDICAID.

So is this on top of the 1% State sales tax Purdue wants to add?
