There will be no autopsy performed for a man who died while trying to get back into a boat Wednesday afternoon.

61-year-old Ronald Metzgar of Emerald Isle died in the waters near Cedar Point.

Originally the district attorney had requested an autopsy on Metzgar, but Friday the Carteret County Sheriff's Office said no autopsy would be performed because there was no foul play in the man's death.

The Coast Guard said Metzgar, his wife and a friend were boating. They told authorities Metzger was trying to get back into his boat after struggling in the water.

A North Carolina Wildlife officer charged the owner of the boat, Debra Root of Emerald Isle, with with operating while impaired.

There's new information about a suspected drowning in Carteret County Wednesday afternoon.

The district attorney has requested an autopsy be done on the body of Ronald Metzgar of Emerald Isle.

The man's body was pulled from the water near Sharks Tooth Island around 4:00 p.m.

Metzger's wife and a friend were with him at the time. They told authorities Metzger was trying to get back into his boat after struggling in the water.

The Coast Guard performed a test on the boat's owner and the N.C. Wildlife Commission ended up charging Debra Root of Emerald Isle with with operating while impaired.

Carteret County investigators say Metzger may have suffered from a heart attack or some other medical condition contributing to the drowning.

I think the Coast Guard should check and hopefully find all saftey equipment on board?

Why should there be any difference in "operating while impaired" for an auto and a motorized boat?
