5-Month Detour On Highway 33 In Pitt County

A 5-month detour in Pitt County will begin Monday to replace an old bridge.

According to the NCDOT, both directions of NC 33 in Pitt County will be closed to replace the bridge over Johnson Mill Run near Greenville.

To bypass construction, drivers will have to take Old River Road and Barrus Construction Road.

This bridge was built in 1956 and reconstructed in the 1970's.

Crews expect the construction to last until October 29th.
