Drive by Shooting Seriously Injures Subject
Narrative: At approximately 5am Sunday morning, the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office was contacted in reference to a drive by shooting. The Sheriff’s Office made contact with the Victim briefly at the Kettle and then obtained further information from him at the Onslow Memorial Hospital. Detective Sergeant David South investigated this incident.
There was a family gathering at the residence of Jose Marin that the Victim and Witnesses were all attending. They all left the Marin residence and went to a local nightclub together. The Victim of the drive by shooting was their designated driver and he picked the group up from the nightclub and drove them back to Marin’s residence. A family argument broke out at the residence and Marin pulled out a pistol and began pointing it at everyone. The Victim loaded everyone up in the car and drove them home for their safety.
Once at home, everyone went inside the residence except the Victim because he was outside talking with a friend on his cell phone. Jose Marin drove by the residence in his vehicle and fired several shots, one hitting the Victim in his left leg. The Victim stated he immediately fell to the ground and crawled under a vehicle for protection.
The Victim was transported from Onslow Memorial Hospital to Pitt Memorial Hospital for further treatment. The shooter, Jose Marin, was arrested a short time later and was placed in the Onslow County Jail under a $250,000 bond.
