Greenville Police say two teens from Farmville were arrested after a shooting Sunday morning.

Billy Tyson, an 18-year-old has been charged with discharging a firearm into occupied property, going armed to the terror of the public, discharging a firearm in city limits and damage to real property. Tyson's bond was set at $35,000.

Solomon Aves, a 17-year-old also from Farmville, is charged with possession of a firearm by a minor.

Greenville detectives say the two were part of one group firing at another group at the corner of Fourth St. and Evans St. around 1 a.m. Sunday. Police say one of the bullets hit a window of Jefferson's, a florist in Greenville. There were people in the bar above Jefferson's, the 4th Street Wine Shop.

No one was injured on the street or in the building.

Police say Tyson and Aves are the only two charged at this time. Everyone else at the scene ran from the police.

When asked if the shooting was gang-related, police reiterated the people involved were part of two "groups."

Previous Story

Greenville Police spokesman Michael Harper says there was an altercation between two groups in which gunfire was exchanged.

Witnesses were able to give police a description of a vehicle. Harper says three people were detained. It's unclear at this point if any of the people detained have been arrested.

Harper goes on to say, "Investigators arrived on scene to investigate and the case is ongoing as of right now. No further information is available as of now, we will release further information as it becomes available."

To Ryan: Unfortunately I have to agree about you with this "hand everything to me generation", BUT you know what? It's not their faults. Really it isn't. Not completely, anyway. Yes, I'm gonna say it and you can all disagree if you'd like. It's their parents faults. (You know, those people who are our age (30 something, 40 something) who always said that they weren't gonna do "that" to their kids? Those who want to be cool to their kids and their kid's friends? Those who won't spank their children?) The issues of this country can be boiled down to two things: 1.) 100 percent of kids need their butts beat at least once in their lives (yes I needed it a few times, AND GOT IT) and this doesn't happen anymore because Big Brother will get you, and 2.) THERE IS NO SHAME! No one is ashamed of anything anymore. PERIOD.

Concerned Citizen of G'ville @ 09:50. I agree with you. Make prison a place NOBODY would want to go back to. At the same time though, society needs a place for the prisoners to go when released from jail to help them get a job & get back on their feet. While people coming out of prison have "served their debt to humanity", no one wants to hire them. Who wants to hire a murderer, or rapist... What business owner wants a KNOWN thief handling the money at the cash register. There needs to be a place where these released prisoners can go to get them routed back into society a little more effectively. Cut out anything non-essential in jail & use to fund this. Something like a homeless shelter for ex-cons. Preferably located near a more urban area with a community college & mental health. Let them run it, prepare their own food, keep it up, mow grass. Currently there is no where for these people to go. Or they go right back into their former bad environment. They could do volunteer work...
