A check for $300.00 was awarded to the Pitt County School System by the Pitt Greenville Sertoma Club in order to provide for students with special needs.
The money raised will help stock batteries for hearing impaired students.
Pitt County Audiologist Kay Fagundus says that both the cost and need for hearing aid batteries is a constant.
Fagundus says there are currently over 40 students with hearing aids or hearing implants in Pitt County. She says these batteries can cost parents hundreds of dollars each year.
