Strong storms blew through parts of eastern Carolina Friday and one Beaufort County woman says she's lucky to be alive. Fierce winds knocked a large tree on her house while she was inside.
Jenny Pharell says she just moved to the living room from the bedroom where the tree came crashing in on her trailer near Aurora.
Pharell's mother-in-law, Shirley Pavlakos, who owns Pharell's trailer home on Hickory Point drive--lives next door and believes the storm brought more than just strong winds. "I think it was a tornado the way the wind was blowing. It was just so fast. Everything, you couldn't see nothing but wind, it was so strong."
Winds toppled powerlines knocking out power for most of the homes in the neighborhood and sending debris flying all over the neighborhood.
Neighbors came together--pitching in to help Pharell and Pavlakos start the clean-up, all thankful there were no injuries.

there were 2 tornados down the Gilead Shores Rd and the windmill rd. the weather we have around here gets crazier every storm we have, i'm glad they are ok.(who cares where everyone is from, why can't we all get along)
Yep, thats a Bath thing. They have always thought they were smarter (and better) than everyone. I am only aware of from the 70s until current, but its been that way for that time period. But don't go by what I say, Ask a "bathatonian" they have absolutely no problem telling you that they are better than you. And, Mr or Mrs Bath scholar, you can see wind, as it picks up debris (thats leaves, paper, dirt, etc.) and as it blows on the trees. Oh I'm sorry, the wind doesn't dare blow in Bath, it must fear you elitists! Get a life!
What? and Wow: Anyone with any sense can tell that the lady meant she could see the "results" of the wind. She had just been through a traumatic situation and wasn't concentrating on choosing words carefully. Some of you people need to do more with your lives than judge and criticize others. Perhaps they could use you to help clean up in the aftermath of some of these storms. I've done it as a part of a volunteer group, and it isn't an easy task. Your heart goes out to people who have to deal with this type of tragedy. If we would all be quicker to help and slower to judge others, the world would be a much better place.
