More than 80 students at the Chicod School near Greenville participated in a colonial camp, complete with face painting, fur-skin caps, flintlock muskets, fifes and drums. The camp simulated the primary aspects of life in colonial America. Students could choose among educational circuits where they might dress up in colonial clothes or practice sword fighting and drumming. The camp is designed around state social studies standards. The camp even offers a colonial store, where participants can buy items such as arrowheads, quills, and bobcat claws.
