North Carolina Senator Elizabeth Dole has undergone hip replacement surgery, and is expected to resume work after the congressional holiday recess. That word from her spokeswoman.
The Republican lawmaker had her right hip replaced in a procedure that took about an hour. Spokeswoman Katie Norman says she doesn't know where the 70-year-old Dole had the surgery done.
Norman says there were no complications and Dole is doing well. She says the surgery was planned, but finding the time to get it done was a challenge. Dole will be up for re-election in 2008.
