A North Carolina lawmaker is calling for an inquiry into Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong's handling of the Duke rape case. Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales calling for the investigation. Jones wants a review to determine if Nifong, a Democrat, misconducted himself or denied the suspects their civil rights. Lacrosse players and Duke students Colin Finnerty, Dave Evans and Reade Seligmann are accused of raping a dancer at an off campus team party in March. Jones wants Gonzales to determine if Nifong violated suspect identification procedures or made prejudicial statements to the media.
