A going away party turns deadly with the death of a teenager, who officials say drowned in a pool.

14-year-old Sean Michael Alhambra drowned in a private pool during a party Sunday afternoon in Halifax County, according to Major Bruce Temple with the Halifax County Sheriff's Office. The accident happened at a home in the Lakeview area outside Roanoke Rapids.

Authorities say adults pulled Alhambra and his 13-year-old brother out of the pool when they went under the water and didn't surface. Neither knew how to swim, officials say.

The younger brother was revived with CPR and was sent to Pitt County Memorial Hospital for observation.

Alhambra's death has been ruled an accident.

to parent from craven, J and LCC - you have no idea how painful the incident was for the family. It's easy for you to leave comments just to so you can make a point. What happened was so tragic that you could have at least shown respect and empathy to the grieving family. Your comments about kids wanting to fit in- was way out of the story. You people should be careful with your words. and mind you, those kids are popular in their respective schools.

TO CRAVEN- I did not think you were blaming the kids. I am just trying to say that your comment about "kids wanting to fit in" - This is so true and what I'm saying is that parents need to teach children that they are who they are. Don't do things just because your friends are doing it. I know this is human nature, but parents tend to go along so that their kids do fit in with the crowd. (popular)

J and LCC I don't agree with either of you. I work with children and they do try and fit in all the time. I have seen where they would try something just to be with them. So you both can set back say that our kids don't try to fit in but they all do. And plus you can't blame parents for wanting. And if you both read it I didn't blame the child, I blame the adults who wasn't paying attention and then not knowing if each child there could swim. Read what I wrote and don't put words in sentences that aren't there. Thank you much.
