A Good Samaritan who stopped to help a hit and run victim was killed Monday night. Investigators with the highway patrol say Monday night around 7 p.m., a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle exiting the Mimosa Manor Mobile Home Park along Highway 32 in Washington. Investigators say 38-year-old Washington resident Stephanie Jones stopped her car in a westbound lane to help the rider and was outside her vehicle when she was struck and killed by another vehicle. The bicycle rider was also struck again, as was a second motorist who stopped to help. The bicycle rider is hospitalized at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. The other motorist is expected to be okay. The search is now on for the vehicle that first struck the bicyclist.
