Trying To Land More Defense Contracts

Retired Generals and leaders of North Carolina's top companies will lead a new private foundation dedicated to helping build the state's defense industry. Lieutenant Governor Beverly Perdue announced Monday morning the formation of the North Carolina Military Foundation. She says the group will be dedicated to increasing military contracts landed in the state and recruit defense-related companies to expand here. While North Carolina ranks third among the states in the number of active military personnel, it's 38th in the percentage of Department of Defense contract awards it receives.
