North Carolina-based Marines who helped evacuate 15-thousand Americans from Lebanon this summer are scheduled to arrive this weekend at their base. The troops are members of the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit from Camp Lejeune.
Corporal Brittany Paxton of Fredericksburg, Virginia, says helping with the evacuation in July made her feel like she was a part of history.
Most Marines were scheduled to return to Camp Lejeune by helicopter and landing craft from the USS Iwo Jima on Sunday to meet family and friends. About 700 Marines will disembark two other ships, the USS Whidbey Island and USS Nashville, on Monday at the Morehead City port.
