Many locations across eastern North Carolina reached well into the 80s on Thursday afternoon. The next few days will see a continuation of the heat and high humidity. A weak cold front will push into the area this weekend before stalling in the southern portion of the state. A 30% to 40% risk of thunderstorms can be expected each afternoon into Monday. Temperatures will top out near 90° for the next two days. The combination of high humidity and 90° temperatures should push the heat index well into the 90s both Friday and Saturday. The only cooling relief will be in the form of afternoon thunderstorms. There will be some very warm evenings if you miss the shower activity.
