Civil War Cannon Back in Edenton

It's been over one hundred years in the making, but now the Edenton Cannon has returned home. On Wednesday afternoon in the Chowan County town of Edenton, residents and town officials alike all joined together to celebrate the homecoming of the Edenton Civil War Cannon. Historians say the cannon was made from the melted bells of the Chowan County Courthouse in 1862. The ceremony was decorated with food, music and Civil War re-enactors. The Edenton Cannon was discovered in the early 1990s at the Shiloh National Military Park in Tennessee. The cannon will now be on display in Chowan County.
