Weather Doesn't Hamper Cotton Crop

You've probably seen the trails of cotton leading from the fields to the gins. The harvest is still underway in Martin County. It was a wet and windy cotton season with a slow, cool beginning, which delayed the harvest enough to catch a lot of fall rain. So far, the crops coming into Roanoke-Tar cotton are looking good. Martin County agricultural extension agent, J.B. Coltrain, says the county's cotton had a lot to overcome this season, but the harvested pounds per acre is good, and in some areas it's above last years numbers.
