On and off quick downpours will be possible through Sunday afternoon. Heavier rain could bring another 1 to 3 inches of rain to a few locations late Sunday and into Monday afternoon.
You've probably seen the trails of cotton leading from the fields to the gins. The harvest is still underway in Martin County. It was a wet and windy cotton season with a slow, cool beginning, which delayed the harvest enough to catch a lot of fall rain. So far, the crops coming into Roanoke-Tar cotton are looking good. Martin County agricultural extension agent, J.B. Coltrain, says the county's cotton had a lot to overcome this season, but the harvested pounds per acre is good, and in some areas it's above last years numbers.
