NEW INFO: Body Found In Beaufort County
A body has been found in Beaufort County. It is believed to be a man last seen May 30th.

WITN News has confirmed a body was found in Beaufort County. It is believed to be the body of a man missing since May 30, but there is no official identification yet.

Authorities say the body was found Thursday night on Little Egypt Road in Blounts Creek.

Family members of missing Beaufort County man Glen McCullough Jr. tell WITN they believe the body is that of their relative, but authorities say they have not made a positive identification at this time.

34-year-old McCullough, of Chocowinity, was last seen May 30. He was reported missing June 1. (A photo is below.)

Wednesday, $1000 was offered for information confirming McCullough's location. The sheriff's office told WITN News that they were looking into all possibilities, including that McCullough may have be endangered.

Now there is up to a $1000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in McCullough's case, which is being treated as a homicide investigation.

Here is Friday's press release from the Beaufort County sheriff's office:

"On June 1, 2009, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a missing person. The report indicated that Glen McCullough Jr., age 34, of Choco Village Road in Chocowinity N.C. had not been seen or heard from since May 30, 2009.

The Sheriff’s Office began an investigation and attempted to locate McCullough. On June 4, 2009 at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a body discovery on Little Egypt Road in Blounts Creek, N.C.

Deputies and Investigators responded to the scene and found the body of a black male consistent with McCullough’s description. Investigators processed the crime scene and collected evidence. An autopsy has been scheduled to begin the process of positive identification and cause of death determination.

The Sheriff’s Office is treating the case as a homicide investigation. If you have any information on the death of Glen McCullough Jr. or if you have seen or talked to him on or after May 30, 2009, please call the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office at (252)946-7111 or Beaufort County Crime Stoppers at (252)974-6400. Crime Stoppers will pay up to a $1000.00 reward for information that leads to an arrest in this case. Callers do not have to give their name, only their information."
