It was the Ninth Annual "Lights Of Knowledge" tree lighting ceremony at Pitt Community College. People gathered at the Vernon White building on campus to listen to names from the past read aloud, as it was a time to reflect and remember. Bobby Tripp, chair of the event, says it's important because it allows people to memorialize and honor people who've been special in their lives at the holiday season. And they did that with a tree covered in more than a thousand lights, lights they purchased to remember their loved ones. The lights are just five dollars a piece and you can still purchase one to honor a loved one. All funds raised will go to the PCC library to benefit students.
