North Carolina's attorney general says he's wrapped up an investigation into allegations that gas stations gouged consumers last year.

Attorney General Roy Cooper says he's won more that $56,000 in consumer refunds, energy assistance funds and civil penalties from 11 gas stations. Cooper has filed suit against the owners of three stations.

None of the stations are in Eastern Carolina.

Cooper's office also issued letters to 12 gas station owners telling them they found no violations that warrants any further action. One of those was Fuel Market/River Bend Fuel Market of New Bern.

The Attorney General's Office began investigating high prices after thousands of complaints poured in starting on September 12th. That's after supplies were disrupted due to Hurricane Ike striking the Gulf Coast.
