An annual event on Topsail Island that draws hundreds to watch turtles being released back into the ocean instead lead to one man being taken away in handcuffs.

Police tell WITN News that hot tempers may have flared due to the heat.

Richard Rodeghier was cited with disorderly conduct.

Police tell WITN News that Rodeghier was walking his bike down a special ramp that is built for organizers to get their vehicles on and off the beach. One organizer asked him to wait while they moved all the cars off the beach, but Rodeghier kept going, even after a police officer told him to wait as well.

Police say as they met Rodeghier at the other end of the ramp with another organizer, he rammed his bike into the organizer, cutting him in the process.

Topsail Beach police cited the 55-year-old Rodeghier and he was released.

House does a story about a man getting cited for disorderly conduct get turned into civil war II. This has nothing to do with where the man is from and who cares where he is from.People need to take a chill pill.I am "from the North" as it is said. I moved to Wilmington cause of its beautiful area and some of my family has lived here. I didn't realize the unrest there is between the south and the north. I have to say if you were from NC and moved to Delaware, NJ, or NY. You would be "Joe" from NC. If your are from NY,NJ,etc.. and move to NC you are a Yankee. Who cares? I have been here 4 years and I still can't believe how "southerner" or "locals" hate Yankees and their money. Let me tell you I am making more money down here the up north.Just some thoughts

I don't know that much about Topsail, only been once, but there should be more routes that this man could have taken. I guess he has a quick temper that needs to be fixed then. To Obama Snake Oil, I like your acronym for Cary. That is pretty funny. At least Topsail does not have to deal with the yankees near as much as some of these other beaches, especially the Outer Banks, where we usually go cause my wife is from there. Her parents don't like the fact that so many yankees are now moving down there and are trying to turn it into something like Va. Beach or Atlantic City. To ???, you yankees are the ones that typically throw trash all on the beach and think that you should not have to pick up after your own garbage. It sounds like to me the Northerners are way more trashy than the Southerners, from the way they act and the way that they live.
