White House Resubmits Appeals Court Nominees Opposed By Democrats

The Bush administration has resubmitted six judicial nominees that Democrats have deemed too conservative for the federal bench. The list includes Terrence Boyle of North Carolina to the 4th U-S Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Virginia.

Bush is trying to push through judicial nominations before Republicans lose control of the Senate next year.

Five nominees, including Boyle, were the subject of an angry exchange in August when Democrats said their selection was a sop to the president's conservative base.

Under Senate rules the nominations must be resubmitted after Congress takes an extended break, as was the case this year for the
2006 election.
