Marine Pleads Not Guilty In Negligent Homicide In Comrade's Death

A verdict is expected today for a Marine Corps reservist charged in the accidental shooting death of his roommate in Iraq.

Lance Corporal Sean Riley pleaded not guilty to negligent homicide yesterday at his court-martial. He pleaded guilty to a second charge, dereliction of duty, which stemmed from his failure to properly unload the rifle.

\Military policeman Lance Corporal Adam Fales was killed in his barracks room when Riley's service rifle fired. The incident happened in December 2005.

Also court-martialed in the case was Lance Corporal Michael C-Fulcher, who was holding Riley's rifle when it fired. Fulcher pleaded guilty yesterday to negligent homicide and negligent use of a firearm, and was sentenced to six months in military jail.
